Henrik Holm
- A Brief Biography
Henrik Holm grew up in the small Norwegian town Sarpsborg, which was one of the first cities in Norway. Sarpsborg was founded by St. Olav who was in his early career a dreaded Viking but later converted to Christianity. While Henrik's childhood was anything but reminiscent of the Viking era, he had his share of adventures growing up.
After High School, Henrik enrolled in "Romerike Folkehøgskole" where he studied stage art for a year before he began his one-year military service with the Norwegian army. During this year, Henrik was stationed near the Russian border in the frozen north - no doubt this prepared him for the bitter Minnesota winters!
The Norwegian Univeristy of Science and Technology followed resulting after a few years in a PhD in Electrical Engineering, specifically Signal Processing. During his PhD studies, Henrik had the opportunity to be a visiting scholar at the University of Minnesota for a year. Henrik got more than he had bargained for during that eventful year: he met his future wife, Basobi. Thus Henrik returned to Minnesota after completing his studies and is currently working on post doctoral research at the University of Minnesota.
Henrik married Basobi in 2003, and they currently reside with two cats
in their home in Lakeville, a southern suburb of Minneapolis. Henrik enjoys working on his research, cooking - especially baking bread, reading up on current affairs, and travelling.
